Turn AI on or off and choose the model
Decide whether the AI helpers in Zonitix are available at all, who may use them, and which AI model answers.
Before you start
- A role that lets you manage security settings. That shows Security & ComplianceSecurity Settings in your menu. In the built-in set, administrators have that permission. The “security_analyst” role has it too; no group carries it, so an administrator gives it to a person by hand, as Roles, groups and permissions shows.
- Nothing to install. The AI model runs on your own Zonitix server. The settings page says so itself: “All inference runs on a local model on this box; nothing is sent to a third party.”
Open the AI settings
Step 1: Go to AI Model
Go to Security & ComplianceSecurity Settings and choose “AI Model” in the list on the left, under “Platform”. The page is headed “AI Intelligence Model”.
Switch AI on or off for everyone
Step 2: Use the AI Assistance switch
The first card is “AI Assistance”. Its switch reads “Enabled” or “Disabled”. It is the one switch for every AI helper in Zonitix: recruitment, finance, reporting, logs, workflows and compliance.
Turn it off if your company does not want an AI model used on its data. A yellow notice then explains what happens: features that used AI fall back to how they work without it, and AI panels tell people it was disabled by their administrator.
Step 3: Save
Click “SAVE SETTINGS” at the bottom of the page. Zonitix may ask you to confirm it is you first. The switch takes effect as soon as you save.
Limit AI to chosen people
Step 4: Require explicit AI permission
On the same card, “Require explicit AI permission” reads “Not required” to begin with. That means anyone who can use a feature can also use the AI inside it.
Switch it to “Required” and a person also needs a separate permission to use AI before any AI helper works for them. Administrators always keep AI. Click “SAVE SETTINGS”.
Step 5: Give the permission to the people who should have it
Go to AdministrationAccess Control, search for use_ai (the name of the AI permission) and grant it to a role, or to one person as an exception. The steps are in the guide to roles, groups and permissions, linked below.
Choose the model
Step 6: Pick from Select Active LLM
LLM is this screen’s word for the AI model. Under “Select Active LLM” there are two choices: “Qwen 3 (0.6B)”, the default, and “Qwen 2.5 (0.5B)”, which is lighter and faster but writes weaker answers. A line under the list shows what Zonitix detected about your server. A model your server cannot run is greyed out, with the reason under it.
Leave the default unless you have a reason to change it.
Step 7: Save and wait for the hand-over
Click “SAVE SETTINGS”. A window titled “Switching active model” shows the old model handing over to the new one, and which parts of Zonitix will use it. Click “Run in background” to carry on working, or “Done” when it finishes.
What you should see
A green message: “Security settings updated successfully!”
With AI off, the “AI Assistance” card reads “Disabled”. People who click an AI helper see a message such as “AI is turned off by your administrator.” Everything that does not use AI keeps working.
With the permission rule on, someone without it is told they do not have permission to use AI features.
If something goes wrong
- "AI is turned off by your administrator." or "AI features are turned off by your administrator."
- The AI Assistance switch is off. Turn it on in Security Settings, AI Model, and save.
- One person cannot use AI but others can
- Require explicit AI permission is on and that person does not hold the AI permission. Grant it in Access Control, or switch the rule back to Not required.
- A model in the list is greyed out
- Your server cannot run it. The reason is written under the model name. It becomes available by itself on a server that can run it.
- "Setting saved. The engine will pick it up on the next AI request."
- The change is saved, but Zonitix could not confirm the new model is loaded yet. Use an AI helper once and it loads then. If AI helpers keep failing, check System Health and contact Zonitix support.
- The Require explicit AI permission switch is greyed out
- AI Assistance is off, so the rule has nothing to act on. Turn AI Assistance on first.
